Outreach Programs

The Old Barracks can come to you! We offer outreach programs to meet in-classroom curriculum needs. Each program lasts approximately 30 minutes and are available Monday-Friday, September – February. The following is a sample of the programs we can provide:

A Chance Encounter    This program features two New Jerseyans of opposing political viewpoints. These patriots discuss their views on the American Revolution, with one citizen's passionate belief in independence and the other citizen remaining steadfastly loyal to the King.
Of Arms and Men Introduces the soldier of the American Revolution, his uniform, and the weaponry and equipment necessary for survival.
Powder, Potion, Bolus & Pill Features the latest in "cutting-edge, state-of-the-art" 18th Century medical practices and treatments.
Child's Play This program illustrates the games, pastimes, and entertainments of the Colonial Period.
Pots, Pins, and Petticoats Introduces the roles and activities undertaken by women during the War for Independence.
Fighting for My Freedom A Black soldier's experience of fighting for personal and national freedom during the American Revolution.

Rates: $175 per program and $125 for each additional program, plus travel expenses.

There is a two program minimum for a one-hour or greater travel distance. Travel expenses are $25 per vehicle per 1/2 hour drive time. There is a $10 per performer meal expense for trips equal to or exceeding one hour. Please note that prices and programs are subject to change.
